Beach Parking from Venice to Manasota Key

The one thing to understand

This coast's beaches answer to different local governments, and the parking experience follows that split. The City of Venice runs the in-town beaches; Sarasota County runs Caspersen and, down the key, Manasota Beach and Blind Pass — and all of those have historically kept their public lots free. Charlotte County's Englewood Beach (Chadwick Park) runs paid parking. Rates and rules change with county budgets, so treat the pay stations, not this page, as the authority on any given morning.

Beach by beach

Venice Beach sits at the end of Venice Avenue with a proper lot and the town a walk away. Caspersen, south past the airport, has a decent lot that tooth-hunters start filling early. On Manasota Key, Manasota Beach and Blind Pass both have lots on the key itself; Manasota Beach also has an overflow lot across the bridge on the mainland side.

Englewood Beach at Chadwick Park is the full-amenity one — pavilions, crossings to the restaurants on the key — and the one where you should expect to pay and to circle on a season weekend. One honest caveat: the 2024 storms hit these facilities hard and repairs have come in stages, so if a specific lot or pavilion makes your day, check the park's own page before driving out.

• ▸If a lot is full, the polite local move is the overflow lot, not the shoulder — the key's shoulders are enforced.

The two ends of the coast

South of the key sits Stump Pass Beach State Park — a real state park with an entrance fee, a small lot that fills fast in season, and a trail down to the pass where the shelling is best. It runs on state-park rules, not county ones, so the annual state-parks pass works here.

And then there's Boca Grande, which does beaches the Boca Grande way: a toll causeway onto the island, limited paid parking, a town that mostly moves by golf cart, and enough charm that nobody minds. Treat it as an outing rather than a default beach day — go early, plan lunch in the village, and it earns the trip.
